Lighting Up a Winter Night
Too soon to light my candle bridge
to brighten up my window ledge
Preceding Christmas every year
Igniting lots of Christmas cheer
I lost an hours daylight
so pondered would it be alright
For it would give me extra light
on a dark and dismal winter night
I searched my cupboards and there were two
So I gently placed them in situ
Hoping the bulbs were still intact
I switched them on and then stood back
Lighting up my candle bridge
The light was truly magical
The room looked so fantastical
I wish I’d lit them sooner
For now I feel so snug inside
To keep them there
I may decide
till winter goes and spring arrives
My candle bridge lights up my eyes
