Light After Dark
I step into the bright sunlight
And I blink many a time,
Just as I start looking around,
I hear the big clock chime.
Sighing heavily, I turn around
And step back into the dark,
Nervous and tense I glance ahead,
My path a question mark.
Confused and sad, I fall to my knees,
My mind in a clamped cage,
Colliding firmly on the bars,
My thoughts in a ferocious rage.
Once in my life, I ignore my brain
And decide to hear out my heart,
Get up, it says, you got things to do,
And now it's high time you start.
Initially, aimlessly, I walk ahead,
With no destination in mind,
Only thing I was sure of was
I now had a light to find.
Suddenly, from somewhere, out of the blue
My goal comes back to me,
The path now becomes quite clear
Better than it ever could be.
I decide to work harder now
And embrace my joys later,
My goal does guide me a lot
And helps me concentrate better.
Someday it will happily end,
So I try to enjoy it to the fullest,
Thus, brightly, I take to my heart
To smile at the hardest test.
One day, surely, I will step in to the light
With no fear of retreat,
Coz I shall, will the dark, to bear fruit
Which tastes nought but sweet.
