Light

The tormented cries of a heart confined
Barely ever met a gratifying end
The meager state is but a trick of your mind
For the course of destiny lies in your own hand

Forsaken love, a conceivable excuse
For a shattered being, to give up life
It is but a presumption, erroneously abstruse
For success greets those who dare to survive

No past, no fate, that He Cannot Mend
Or an ill-fated tale to have ever spawned
Never lose hope, however evident the end
For night is the darkest just before dawn

Hussain, like Elizabeth, I had to come back and read this one again. It's filled with a depth of sadness that many, if not most of us contemplate sooner or later in our lives. Good poetry makes us think about the unthinkable and this one does it admirably well. Also, thanks for your compliments and thoughts on some of my more recent poetry as well. I sincerely appreciate your visits and kind thoughts on things we both find worthy of purposful consideration. Thanks again and jolly well done.

I've found it takes courage to suvive, then success comes, sometime it's a long time. I always find something new to probe the mind with new thoughts in your verse Hussain. And thanks for your sweet visit and comments, they make my day. I wrote you a fun one about the nose to put you in better humor. Luv, Lizzy

Hussain, this reminds me very much of my most recent poem, "Loneliness." It was kind of you to respond to "Estranged Love" which I'm promted to read next in order to complete the circle. Thank you as well for your kind comments concerning "If I Could Reach Across the Miles." You're a good neighbor my friend! Peace...
