Life Story

Look away
You never knew this face
I painted you a picture of something real
Dressed in ash
I hid my naked form
Believing all my lies until I couldn’t feel

But now I see
I was washed with fuel
Though everyone is running with a flame
Now I know
Survival’s all I have
I hide away from you to run from blame

Faces made of nothing but my self-reproach
Fear hiding out inside my lies
Everything exists inside the back of here
The broken nothing in my mind

The cause of all this pain is traced back inside
Every waking moment I’m aware
The beginning of this search will start with suicide
The end of it will start when I don’t care

Collapsing into flame I ask to be free of this
Wisdom holding life above my head
Disease will hold me back from ever seeing bliss
Reflections of inner conflict I see instead

Look again
You’ll never know this face
Life is made from the things that we can’t see
Look within
Perhaps you’ll see a place
Somewhere that shows you how to truly be
