Life On the Edge

sung to the tune of Paxton's "Bottle of Wine"

Life on the edge,
Life on the ledge--
Ready to slip but still sliding.
Gimme some change;
I can arrange
Some happy high without hiding.

Ran out of luck.
Spare me a buck.
Gimme a smoke if you got 'em.
Ran out of gas.
Cops on my ass--
Life is a ***** at the bottom.

Out on the street
Hurting hearts beat,
Waiting for sacred surprises..
You never know
Under the show--
Jesus has many disguises.

Trust in the Lord.
Still can't afford
Anything I am not given.
Buy me a drink
So I can think
I'm still in love with the living.

Please omit verse two. I later located some of the exact wording in a Keith Whitley song.
