Life Lines

Our lives like lines they do reflect
Events are times they intersect
Stay and talk to one another
Time we share with every other
A flow of ideas and similar thoughts
Basis for common ground is what is sought

Fleeting are these meetings, brief
Like life in autumn, a golden leaf
A change in colour to an amber hue
A burst of colour that may be due
But only a short while does it show
Like a flame put out, an afterglow

Only meetings that we take and nurture
Grow like sprouts and be taken further
An acquaintance known, a friendship blossom
Finding all that we have in common
Those true and loyal, hold and cherish
For these are lifelong until we perish

While many lines may come and go
Like crystal flecks of pure white snow
Unique and individual in every way
Some may fall and others stay
Your life's journey they've become apart
Keep as memories, in your heart
