Life Light

Pitch black in this forest tonight
Can barely walk not a spec of light
I feel eyes are watching me
I look back but cannot see

I thought I'd take this shortcut if I could
And save some time going through these woods
Never imagined how dark it would be
Can't see him but he sees me

I take a step and so does he
Every fiber is saying run and flee
Don't know which direction I must go
The path is black and he wants me to know

I'm walking his walk of death
Louder are his rapid breaths
Clicking his teeth in the black night
Feeling the warm blood after his bite

Life light going dim in my eyes
The wolf has taken another prize
Crimson blood painting this ancient ground
Of the next man never to be found

Be wary travelers in the night
There are things out there that snarl and bite
If I were you I would if I could
Stay out of the these dark ancient woods

G'day Timothy … rather a wolf than a politician. At least you won't get stabbed in the back Timothy - thanks Mate - Lindsay

A stark warning, we should always glance over our shoulder now and again. Tom

Great rhythm that adds much to the delivery of this haunting warning. Beautifully penned, Timothy.
