Life Lessons
We were both thirteen,
Our first day at High School.
We seemed made for each other
I was a fool.
Then every day was rosy.
The sun came out to shine.
I did not doubt for a second
That one day, you would be mine.
Forever and a day.
Then something happened,
That stopped me thinking this way.
Into the classroom,
A new girl walked,
The class went quiet,
Nobody talked.
One lad whistled, another blew a kiss
The girl blew one back,
She was not a shy little miss.
I saw my future slowly drifting
Away.
When I learned very quickly
How easy boys and men can stray.
It was the start of growing up,
When I attended High School.
A life lesson,
To help me to act less like a fool.
