Life Is a Book
Life is a book,
That cannot fail—
A river, feather—
Opal midnight veil.
In dreams we float
To mind’s constraint
At an office, bar
Or that dark gym—
None of it real—
A baked potato
That’s shaped just like Him.
In that midnight
Of our wild fear,
We slowly arise
From our stuffed chair—
See that clear thing
We know is us,
Till it’s just not there.
Life is a book—
Read while you can—
Before life fools death
And the pearl-faced man.
