Life in the Dark
Life in the Dark
Often it's here in the dark, in my dreams I come alive in the night
Caught in this struggle between life and death straining to find the light
Shadows afford me some camouflage as my skin begins to glisten
Ears bent to the breeze, fighting hard, straining to listen
From the summer sun I've a skin of fine gold
Mighty muscular arms that may quickly unfold
Yet with a fairies nimble grace I move light as the air
Alone in the dark's keep, without a care
The night breeze brings it, on a zephyr it came
Ever so softly the night whispers my name
In this fortress of solitudes freedom I take flight
Sailing aloft on the breeze into the night
My life unto this point, a conundrum of riddles it has been
Hidden meanings failed, and often that which was needed unseen
Swirling intertwining circles of endless motion
Whimpers in the night that became a lost notion
Thoughts relentlessly going around
The night echoes that bewildered sound
Looking and always searching my deepest realms to see
I'm forever lost in the inner war to find the hidden secrets within me
So I tuck up my pillows, rub my weary lids in the enigma of this keep
As I fall back into the realm of darkness fast asleep
