Life In a Tent
Gracefully clumsy I take center ring.
Shy and quiet is who I am.
Center of attention
but for all the wrong reasons.
Wanting to be like my peers.
I sit by myself in tears.
Trying my hardest night after night
knowing how it feels to be the laughing stock inside.
With little experience and no chance
I found myself a friend.
Someone to listen
and share some advice.
He hands me a feather to hold on to tight.
As I try to fly one more time.
Reaching for the stars
I will soon see,
everyone staring up at me.
Brave and courageous
is what I've become
like an elephant I once read about.
