Life For Eternity
Whenever someone is cruel toward us in either word or deed
Remind us how You first loved us and did so unconditionally
When sorrow threatens to immobilize, warn us it's just a test
May we dance and sing and in doing so lift the grief from our chest
And each time we feel wrath creeping near it will soon disappear
If immediately and secretly we do good for those we most fear
When opportunity presents itself to cause injury to a foe
Prompt us to abide in mercy instead and of revenge to let go
When itchy ear longs for gossip to hear or the tongue rumors to tell
Let us first ask , " Do I serve God above or the snake of Hell"?
Whenever we must chasten may we do so gently
Using kind words well thought out and delivered humbly
Keep our actions and talk from provoking another
And our walk far from the dens of iniquity
Help us to accept help when it is required keeping in mind
You oft times send a need through one we perceive as an enemy.
And when we are dancing on top of the mountain
Help us understand it's because of Your Guidance Lord and Grace
Not because we are better than others nor deserving
Nor does it mean we've completed the race
Many are they who've stumbled from the top to the valley below
I being one of the many...that is how I know
Once I'd reached the mountain I gradually began to backslide
A little less prayer, less Godly fellowship, and bible study
A lot more, independence, and straying further from God's side
It's a long journey back to Jesus but worth every step you see
For those who walk the straight and narrow
Their reward is a life with Jesus Christ for eternity.
