Life and Love

Life and Love

He left me alone without a choice
My heart will not again see love
So I was told by my inner voice
I sat to cry out to God above

If my life had passed by me here
If I hadn't known this cold
I wouldn't have sat and shed a tear
Over the diamond ring I sold

You wouldn't have talked to me that day
I wouldn't have come to know your heat
Many fish in the sea, there is, some say
But when I'm with you I am complete

If my life had passed by me here
If I hadn't known this cold
I wouldn't have sat and shed a tear
Over the diamond ring I sold

I know that my heart, it's still alive
Cuz it burns bright, yes it's on fire
You're the air I breathe to survive
Please don't ever leave, I will expire

If my life had passed by me here
If I hadn't known this cold
I wouldn't have sat and shed a tear
Over the diamond ring I sold

So I take the hand that I've been dealt
I take all the lumps and pound them down
The reason for those tears, what I felt
Is no more, you're the one who wears the crown

Thank you. Taking a self Expressions class on another poetry website. One of the assignments was to write a letter to yourself at age 13. There wasn't much more instruction than that. So of course most people are going to warn themselves about something to do or not to do. The next assignment was basically assume that this warning changes your life. Explain how it changes. This is what I wrote for that second assignment. I will also share the first if people want to see it.
