Life According To Joe

Many dedicate life to the afterlife,
A place where one goes when they die.
I live simply to watch the strife,
For I know in the ground I will lie.

Perhaps this view is cold,
But it is the one I prefer.
I’m a mere body that grows old,
Aware my body will eventually defer.

I will use my time well,
For I am alive to live.
On death I do not dwell,
For I have so much life to give.

Life is not simply breathing in and out,
But feeling how it feels to truly be alive.
No one knows what life’s about,
But who am I to contrive?
