Notes About The Poem

another I found today that I had forgotten about.

Lies of Make Believe

When you’re dreaming of make believe
You better read between the lines to see
It’s the same old story that's both sad and cheap
Of things that almost were
And yet never meant to be
.
You convinced yourself
You could be someone else
If that's what he needed and wanted you to be
No matter how hard you tried
You could always tell by the look in his eyes
But you were reading between the lines
And trying to believe the lies
And dreamed of make believe
Of things never meant to be
.
Just one more time
It won't be like before
This time I really mean it
You've heard a thousand times or more
And you want to believe
But way down deep
You know it was never meant to be
.
And the longer that you go
The more you lose your soul
Promises made of fragile glass
The test of time cannot mask

Beautifully sad, Kelly. I love the way you have expressed your feelings Abuse, is like living in a world, one doesn't want to see. Very poignant write.
