Lies

When I look at you and tell you I think of no one else, that is the truth 

When you look at me and say I am the only one for you, that is a lie 

When we lay together and I tell you I love the way your arms feel, that is the truth 

When we are side by side and you say you want no one else, that is a lie 

I tell the truth when I look in your eyes 

You tell me lies when you don’t look at me anymore 

 

Once you told me I was the best thing that happened to you 

Then you found another 

Once you told me you would never need anyone else again 

Then you found another 

Once you told me that love was forever 

Then you found another 

 

 

When all is said and done 

And you have gone your way 

I’ll remember that I loved you 

And that you said you’d stay 

But now that you have left me 

I sit alone and cry  

Were they always lies you told? 

Is it why you said goodbye?
