Not a Licorice fan but I do enjoy using fennel seeds in spaghetti and Bacardi makes an interesting rum called Anejo that has a mild Licorice flavor, probably flavored with Star Anise. I did enjoy your poem, though.

Andrea, I have to admit I don't care for licorice, but you made it sound delicious. I never would have thought it came from a legume. Congrats on your win! Blessings, Kim

This is fun Andrea, licorice is our national candy here, we have hundreds of different sorts and all Dutch people love it. Other countries mostly abhor it, much to our surprise. So.... I LOVE it that you love it :D Good luck in the contest.

when we were kids there were plants in the woods we would pull and eat the roots because they smelled and tasted like licorice

There are some wonderful anisette candies from Italy that are really strong. I enjoy these occasionally. Licorice grows upon us as we age and as our senses dull such that something more powerful is needed for stimulation. Thanks for this lick.

I don't have a sweet tooth, Andrea, but I like Licorice. It is supposed to be useful in herbal remedies, though excessive amounts of it are not recommended! Regards // paul

Nice write, Andrea. I notice quite a few people's Pleiades blend the sentences across lines - interesting technique (I've stuck with the separate lines approach). Good luck in the contest! Regards, John.

Both ways are nice but your way is more limiting. I just love enjambment, particularly in my sonnets.
