GETTING TO THE ROOT OF IT:

Licorice

Labeled as a healthful 
Legume, this root is sweet
Like sugar, but with a 
Long-lasting, stronger taste!
Lollipop licks of it
Linger on my tongue. I
Love its unique flavor!

James Inman April 19, 2017 at 8:02 AM Not a Licorice fan but I do enjoy using fennel seeds in spaghetti and Bacardi makes an interesting rum called Anejo that has a mild Licorice flavor, probably flavored with Star Anise. I did enjoy your poem, though.

Duke Beaufort April 16, 2017 at 5:12 PM There are some wonderful anisette candies from Italy that are really strong. I enjoy these occasionally. Licorice grows upon us as we age and as our senses dull such that something more powerful is needed for stimulation. Thanks for this lick.

I notice quite a few people's Pleiades blend the sentences across lines - interesting technique (I've stuck with the separate lines approach). Good luck in the contest! Regards, John.
