Lickety-Split

Life is like a runaway train,
It's journey's speed, you can't restrain.
Can fill each day with what you please,
Keep special ones in memories,
Envision only, future days.
Timed trip is measured- and relays
You can't slow down or speed ahead.

So fast it zooms until you're dead.
Pilgrims stuck on time's fast track,
Lickety-split, no going back.
Into the void of endings, turns;
Train station waiting, no returns.

I can almost feel the pace of the train as it pulls out of the station and takes us on this "Licketyi-Split" ride. Acrostics are hard, but you did an excellent job with this one! Wishing you success in Deb's contest.
