Liar

The cold gnaws at blue fingertips
But not right by the fire
I’ll act like I am serious
To swear I’m not a liar

The bottom of a swimming pool
Is where I go to think
To cease to breathe would end my duel
But I won’t drown in a drink

The screaming of the glaring fire
Tells me it is my turn
I stand and stare, I do admire
But I’m afraid to burn

I love but will not fall in love
For things that fall will break
But we are nowhere near enough
And realized that too late

You mean the solemn words you say
Still I avoid your eyes
Exaggerations, complications
I’ve sworn to not tell lies

If you tell me that you love me
And I’m all that you desire
Just know I can not say the same
For I swear I’m not a liar
