Liar

heartbeat pounding and pounding,
not loud enough to drown out the fear and doubt
my mind is re - sounding,
breathe in breathe out,
animating the folds on my face, on my gut,
not accepting the emergence of gray or the sag of the butt
has me living deep deep in a rut.
the mirror reflects an illusion,
the photos expose all wrong,
it is not to me that anyone writes or sings their song,
believing only a portion of each lie,
would have me living my death each day until I die,
the life to be lived is not the life of waiting,
swallow not, those bitter pills,
it is hope not fear i desire dating,
with the ground below and the sky above,
i cast aside doubt and fear, to embrace love,
anything else would set the world on fire,
accepting the untruth also makes the believer the liar.

There is such a feeling of optimism and hope when you get to this part: "i cast aside doubt and fear, to embrace love," I liked this poem very much, William.

seeing the hope within can be difficult at times. Thank you for your kind comment. WF
