Lgbtq Plus

 Gay adults use to be
Gay children.
  We grew up in our own 
Secret prison.

  Emotional torture by 
People that hate.
  We are born tempting the 
Hand of fate.

  Verbal abuse with ******
Slurs.
  We learn fast how to
Be diverse.

  Ridiculed behind religious
Bigotry.
  A lot of us grew up with 
Toxic hostility.

  We lost some good ones along
The way.
  Suicide looked better than
Another day.

  Others died at the hands,
Of A hateful rage.
  An all-out gay-bashing,
Bloody rampage.

  This is the start of the holocaust
Against queers.
  We hide in closets and live 
In fear.

  Third Reich fascism from 
The GOP.
  It starts with the drag queens
In Tennessee.

Richard Colbert May 22, 2023 at 4:21 PM Wonderful writing. Simple and eloquent. I can't say I've ever been the victim of discrimination. If I have, i was oblivious. What I have noticed is the unrelenting rise in hateful speech and actions by those whom I guess have been the most privileged of all and appear to be running scared. Your poem is wonderful.
