Letter of Change

This pain in my life
filled with this strife
increases each day
for what I don’t say.

The pain that I see
clouds peoples vision of me,
for the life I live
and the nightmares I relive.

The things that I do
have no effect on you,
but you beat me down
and you destroy my crown.

I once ruled my self
with great health and wealth,
but the pain you bring
has destroyed everything.

Why can’t you see
that it is still just me,
the child you all once did know
the child with the outward glow.

The only difference
deals with my preference,
the people I love
that make me see doves.

Not all may not know it
and those who do hide it,
that fact is I'm gay
and don’t care what they say.

That being said
get all thoughts out of your head,
for I’ll still be a great friend
until the very end.
