Let's Just Be Together --- a Song Lyric

The world has fashioned ways
to put you under me...
I want you to know
that's not the world I see.

I see you as you are
as all that you can be
within a bond
in which both of us fly free.

Let's just be together
in a way that works for both...
birds of a feather
flying where we each need to go.

Anyone who said that life is easy
had his head stacked full of rocks
and the cranium he wandered in
was full of empty talk.

In this real world we inhabit
I can't contain your love...
any more than I could a serpent...
or a flying dove...

so I don't even try.
I love you as you are
like I do a flying bird...
as I do a star...

I see you as you are
as all that you can be
