Let Them Go
they say if you love someone, let them go, uh no,
if you agree to let them go then what do you know
If I truly love them, then why wouldn't I do anything to keep them
why would love mean letting silence creep in
Isn’t true love supposed to be undying?
not bending to distance, not quietly denying
is it really love if i’m not trying
everything in my power to make them stay?
to bend, to bend again, but never break away
hands don’t have to squeeze,
to stop a pulse from slipping ease
care can be quiet, steady,
a root that digs deep, ready
What I’m trying to say is i’d fight every single day
cause if you truly love someone
love doesn’t choose silence, it chooses to stay
letting them go ain’t love, it’s giving in
letting go doesn’t always mean courage
sometimes it’s a shadow dressed in disguise
love can inhale and exhale,
fill a room without a cage or jail
and if someone walks away,
it’s not because love broke,
it’s because love was never meant
to vanish like smoke,
to prove it could hold or soak
love can be soft, firm, alive,
steady and awake, ready to thrive
and if someone stays,
it’s not because hands tightened,
it’s because hearts knew the ways
to remain, to bloom,
to keep the fire brightened
