Let the Lobster Go

Sometimes you have to break a heart to save your own, Sometimes you have to leave and then move on. And though I will love others, this is always true I can’t love them the way that I loved you. I had a lobster once, and I was his as well, But storms would separate us, and the swell Would carry us apart til I would lose my trust, And then I knew just what to do I must. It took some time – you were my lobster, and I yours, Though I grew tired from fighting all these wars. There never was a brighter flame, I know it’s true, Than that bright flame that burned for me and you. Though the chapter long, it’s time to turn the page, And thus, your character must leave the stage. The fates brought me another, and my choice is made, Although I’d wish on none this price I paid. Someday you’ll find a use for all this brokenness; You’ll find true love, and share true love’s first kiss. It took a while to understand, but now I know Sometimes you have to let the lobster go.
