Let Me, Milord
When I wake up from sleep today,
Let me die of the days gone by
To be fresh like dawn of the day,
When I wake up Milord today,
Filled full with all punch, passion’s way,
Child’s naiveté, with dawn’s dew to vie,
When I wake up from sleep today,
Of all days gone by let me die.

Poet's note: The poem was first set as a sestet as under:
When I wake up from sleep today,
Let me die of all yesterday,
So that I’m fresh like morning sun,
Filled full with vigour and passion,
Innocent besides like a child,
And like dawn’s dew all so mild!
