Notes About The Poem

Tribute poem to all my elder friends, mentors and family alive and passed.

Let Me Have This Day

Ninety years already, life continues to amaze
Respecting elders - meaningful, polite phrase
Spent too much time living in a daze
Now I'm learning to maximize my days

Stifle your opinions, let me have my say
My favorite dessert - special treat for today
Let me ahead in line, won't mean much anyway
A seat with a view, let me enjoy my stay

Breaking a hundred seems to be a craze
What does the end look like through the haze?
Continued care senior living - another life phase
Longevity issues, probing questions it does raise

I've come a long way
Tried my best not to stray
Let me have this day
Maybe my last, it's okay

This day, my day
