Let Me Be

Let me weep into a mug and drink it-

that is all I have to drink.

Let me eat the skin that falls away from me-

that is all I have to eat.

Let me drop dead without an ounce of pain-

rather then living in forever agony.

Let it end/

let me be/

dead.

Let me die in a bed instead of the street-

swept into a gutter without a prayer.

Only the concrete ever cared-

So let me weep and drink my tears;

Farewell.
