Let It Lie

Sometimes it's a woman
Sometimes it's the work
Sometimes it's a whiskey bottle
That's got me by the shirt

Sometimes it's the smart phone
Or bingin' on TV
Sometimes it's the pills I take
For my anxiety

I got this pounding in my brain
Says keep on goin' with that thing
It's alright to set the rest aside
Obligations let 'em slide

Gotta' keep goin' 'til the light burns out
Then wonder what the hell it's all about
Gotta' keep goin' but I don't why
I can't just let it lie

Sometimes it's my family
Sometimes it's my wife
Sometimes it's just thinkin' 'bout
What I'm doing with my life

Sometimes it is Jesus
Sometimes it's the gym
Most the time it's something
Besides either one of them

I got this pounding in my brain
Says keep on goin' with that thing
It's alright to set the rest aside
Obligations let 'em slide

Gotta' keep goin' till the light burns out
Then wonder what the hell it's all about
Gotta' keep goin' but I don't why
I can't just let it lie

Dear Poet is perhaps the finest address I have ever received: Thank you so much for your encouragement!
