Let Her Drown

Just let her lie here in this sea of tears that have fallen from her eyes, don’t try to rescue her, don’t pretend to care, don’t patronize
If you had loved her in the first place then she wouldn’t be here struggling for her last breath, she would be safely wrapped up inside of your arms feeling your love for her instead
But you couldn’t let this be, you only wanted her on your terms, and now she lies here dreaming away of a world where love is returned
Maybe she will get lucky, and she will make it to the other side, where she doesn’t have to hurt anymore and there will be no more lies

Maybe then she can rest peacefully, and the pain can come to an end, the suffering that you put her through time and time again
You promised her you would always be there for her whenever she needed you to be, but where are you now that she is slowly dying in this makeshift sea?
You would think that she would fight, that she would want to live, but there is nothing left here for her anymore, you were only willing to take, never willing to give
And so, you took for the last time as soon there will be no more, she is drowning in the tears you caused from her eyes to pour

So, she whispers a silent goodbye to you as she takes her last breath before the water covers her lips, and the words that she says would break your heart if it did exist
But sadly, those beautiful, sad words your heart will never know, because all that you will hear are your own regrets and see the love that you had left lying lifeless on the shore.
