Lessons You Don’t Expect

Lessons you don’t expect are the best kind
Like broken bones and hearts
But also, even better
The kind of things small children teach
Things like appreciation of now
And play and unbridled enthusiasm
For what can be
Just around the corner
Because, you know, we all deserve
The best life we can have
Including broken bones and hearts,
What waits around that corner,
And whatever is always, only here and now.
