Lessons of Life
They're all here
lessons in living
to learn through the years;
some of us are born ready
eager to take in the revelations
others lay half asleep seeking direction;
some are just biding time
moving with the flow
hitching along on the ride;
some seek the light of the sun
basking in the beauty of the day
others huddle in the dark wasting life away;
looking back on seventy-plus years
I cry. I laugh, I lived, I learned
I'm happy with all the laughter and the tears
no regrets, a little pain, some heartache too
but I'd learn willingly every lesson over again
as long as I could do it with my family and my friends.
