Lessons Etched in Light

Written December 7, 2024, for contest Sponsored by: Karen Jones ____________________________________ When we lose a lesson, we etch an example on a rock, Be the alteration you wish to view, all round the clock.   We have a deep link and a prosaic mental stake. After brittle, we allow what we did not forsake.  We seek worth in this life and deem it divine. Wind disregards the leaves that fall upon the shrine. Hearts flutter and linger when you're in sight. Exuberance refers to its outstanding delight. The exquisite tapestry radiates light from the inside. Intertwined strands of the lustrous, silvery guide.  You hope nothing more than my crushed heart.  Would you be willing to bring us back to the start?  Time lends death the echo of silent screams. Dark whispers back to you ripped from dreams.  I tuck away what I have experienced inside. When it emerges, we are bound to collide.

I liked the feeling of a sad life and equal emotions. But life goes on. Great introspection.

SP, you have an interesting way to talk about life's lessons! We do etch memories and it's certainly true we can look at altered versions. The way we feel about others we might be attracted to also might take up some significant space. I like how you describe the radiating light from the inside. Smiles!!!

- Maybe we can recognize ourselves a little in this... and it's basically just as well that we don't know what tomorrow brings... an interesting and great poem, Las :) - hugs

Hey Sotto, your poem masterfully weaves themes of personal growth, regret, and emotional conflict. Through vivid metaphors like "etch an example on a rock" and "wind disregards the leaves," the speaker reflects on the permanence of past mistakes and the fleeting nature of time. The imagery of light radiating from within and the tension between exuberance and crushed hearts evoke the complexity of the human experience—joy and sorrow coexisting.

Ah dr sotto you are natural with rhymes and this is such a deep and meaningful poem that made me think alot as i read, and reflect too, especially loved the line “ Be the alteration you wish to view, all round the clock.” A profound advice delivered to all your readers, sometimes we need to be what we wish to see in others and all around us too! The flow of this is seamless and i think it should do well in the contest! Good to see you back posting again! Pleasure reading your work. Sending you light always
