Lesson In Giving

Lesson in Giving

There have Been a Few Occasions,
In the Life and Times of Me,
That I Didn't Care for Living
And I'd Just as Soon Not Be.

But I Met a Special Person,
Who Said Life Is for the Living
And the Measure of the Time You Spend,
Is in the Gift of Giving.

At First it Made No Sense.
What Good Would That Do Me?
But I Had Nothing Else to Do
Except Do it and Maybe See.

So I Put on a Phoney Happy Face,
Because at First it Wasn't Real.
But as Things Began to Change,
I Got a Dealt a Better Deal.

Now Each Morning When I Wake up
And See That I'm Still Living,
A Real Smile Crosses My Face,
Thanks to the Lesson I Learned in Giving.
