Less Human Than Thy

I'm trying to love you. I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to see through your eyes. But I can't understand you. I cannot feel for you. So am I less human than thy? You make deep confession, Admit your depression. Emotions well up in your eyes. I want to console you But think follies control you. So am I less human than thy? You tell me you love me, Your heart pour forth for me. To a puddle you melt 'fore my eyes. I say we've been through this. I just cannot do this. So am I less human than thy? You want to talk to me, And not to look through me. You wish that I'd see through your eyes. But my patience is peaking. I'm done with the speaking. So am I less human than thy? Out there you are starving, A life barely carving. You plead with your desolate eyes. But I'd rather not look. I'll just hide in my nook. I guess I'm less human than thy.
