This is to draw attention to the invisible reality of Dementia. It affects young and old and takes away the memories They have made it can effect the young and old. Be kind and supportive to all people you don't know What problems they have. Not All Disabilities are visible.
Please excuse me asking but could you lend LEND A HAND? You see I have been outside all night I'm cold And can hardly stand. I decided to go for a walk last night but forgot My coat and phone. I do not know how far I walked then I found Myself alone. Would you lend a hand and show me the Way to go. But before you help and lend a hand there is Something you should know. I use to have a full life filled with happiness and Adventure. But now I can't remember simple things Because I have..... DEMENTIA....

fabulous poem! It does create awareness about dementia. I can relate to your words, for in my mother's final years she suffered so from Alzheimer's and dementia. How poignant was this line:Something you should know. I use to have a full life filled with happiness and Adventure. We need to know these poor souls were once happy, productive human beings with a heart and soul. Well done! Enjoy your evening, Sara

This is a good poem to raise awareness about dementia. I used to work in a care home as an Activity worker with dementia patients. It is frustrating for people with dementia and worrying for family and friends. Reassuring them is important to help them feel safe. I did enjoy looking through photo albums with them and they quite often had triggers when they saw the photos and they had some happy memories. A good description and poem. Very well written.
