Leaving This World For Good

Leaving this World for Good (IFL) Back from a second surgical treatment Lasting several frightful hours, I was lying on bed, unconscious, Faint and without any power; With the eyes still closed all over, With gloomy darkness all around, In the quietude of the room One could hardly hear a single sound; Soon the chloroform within waned away; Now the whole body pined with pain, Now the bowels seemed to be torn apart Now the affliction seemed to reach the brain; Now the unmoving body changed its hue; With dripping eyes beloved relatives, Bewildered and knowing not what to do, All prayed for the Lord to assuage the pain; But, alas the pain became more acute And relatives fearing for my safety Sought the mercy of the Supreme Lord And the clemency of the Almighty. With the pain now unduly hard to bear, I slightly closed my feeble eyes, And that no one might at all hear, Silently prayed for endless hours; Soon a small, seamless ray of light Invisible to the human eye Escaped from my unmoving body And flitted away towards the sky; As the light mounted up high apace And glided towards the open space It seemed like…l was leaving this world It seemed like I was leaving this world for good.
