Leave Your Darkness Behind
What do you see when you look at me
your eyes so wide and blank,
while I sit in the breezy sun free
you work in the deep dark dank.
Death for you is everywhere
and with you everyday,
life for you it's just not fair
I hope you find your way.
Now I've been close to death myself
and shivered in it's wake,
where life is on some mountain shelf
a distance I can't make.
But I looked up and all around
for hand holds I could climb,
so up I go and don't look down
for life is on my mind.
So don't look back upon your past
like something dark and dim,
you look ahead and make life last
if not for me...for him.
