Leave Me Alone
Staring ahead at the breeze rippled water
His gaze didn’t wander at all
He failed to acknowledge my footsteps approaching
Just gazed at that ebony pool
I had to enquire about his well-being
And was he in need of a hand
He muttered that he was about to go in
For now though he’d stay on dry land
I’d like to help, I said, please tell me how
I can get you away from the edge
Just leave me alone, I’m perfectly fine
He told me, ‘She’s just by that hedge’
I followed his gaze and I was amazed
I suddenly shared the man’s wish
He leapt in the water and swam really quick
To grab his rod back from the fish
The rod bent right over, the fish tried to dive
That huge fish I’ll never forget
The man shouted don’t you dare leave me alone
Just Wade out and bring me that net
