Leave Me Alone
Leave me alone!
Yep, that's what I said
as you dragged me out of my bed.
The night is filled with dreams
and I have no desire to escape their scenes.
Pull the covers off
tickle my feet as I scoff
I'm tired and want to sleep
and I'm still groggy finishing the images I keep.
I was a hero, some marvelous ceation
able to free the prisoners of hell and damnation.
Let me sleep, just a little bit longer
while the visions are fresh in my slumber.
Let me be I say
leave me alone for today
I'm sleeping in unable and unwilling to awake
to a madness of little give and a multitude of take.
Leave me alone
yep, that's what I said
and your reply cantankerous as it was rang in my head
that I could sleep long after I'm dead.
So, up I rose with a shaken start
thanks for reality, dear heart.
