Learning To Breathe

The saddest truth that I could ever find
The greatest mockery of all design
It was never what I thought I saw
But was instead a puzzle I ignored

The darkest likelihood we all forget
The lightest distance where our sun can’t set
The universal language of deceit
The universal wisdom of defeat

I stood and watched my world begin to die
I crumbled gently into all my lies
A broken energy I thought was true
Easy to blame when I no longer move

A pure abyss of nothing but disease
I scrambled anywhere I thought relieved
And then the nothingness took everything
Until I realised that my heart could sing

I rose again to self-creation’s warmth
Where every meaning has another form
A million visions from a thousand eyes
A million more for every time I’ve died

The saddest truth that I could ever find
The more I fall the more I learn to climb
The purest reason to look past our pain
For every death we learn to breathe again
