Laying On the Beach

The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds on this plain. It is so bright and beautiful it is hard for my eyes to contain. I lean against the wind and pretend that I am weightless. In this moment I know I am set for life, set for greatness. I lay my head onto the sand and to my dreams I submit. The sky resembles a black lit canopy with holes in it. Counting the stars above one by one, I am euphoric. This is one night I'll remember forever, to my its historic. I watch the fireflies come out all along the beach. Burning off and on, they stay just outside my reach. Staring out into nothing, I look back on life and reflect. This sliver of time is so great, but its you who I recollect. No matter how great life can be, its you I want here. I wish you could be next to me, but then you disappear. It feels like everything I do in life, it just isn't complete. Now the best days of my life are more bittersweet.
