Laughers
From a rice paper lily, she recites favorite poems
while pumpkinseed fans their nests in the shallows.
A jay on a birch branch teases the tabby
who twitches his tail amidst velvety reeds.
On the shadowy bank a gent awkwardly lies
while laughers picnic just a stone skim away.
In a robin's egg dream, the sun gently opens the sky
and gives away freely gilded strips of its life.
Soon the light will bow to the will of the moon.
When the night magician unlocks the angst of the loon.
