Lately

Lately

Lately I’ve been thinking
About the road that lies ahead
And the things I’d liked to accomplish
Long before I’m dead
The goals I sat aside
When I married and had a child
The aspirations in my head
That used to run so wild.

Lately I’ve been realizing
That time does not stand still
That dreams are for the few
Who never give up the will
I’ve done the noble thing
Placed myself at a distant third
But the voices in my mind
Simply beg to be heard.

Lately I’ve been contemplating
Racing against time
Surging on with life
Reaching the finish line
Reaching for my dreams
Before they slip away
Accomplishing my hearts desires
Seizing the upcoming day.
