Late October Haiku

LATE AUTUMN HAIKU

they’re almost gone now
how brown, bare the branches look
some toys in the leaves

when rain turns to snow
how sad those two last roses
brave faces with tears

apples bruised apples
scattered on the frosted green
and this twiggy frown

music in the wind
late october’s final song
dancing red and gold

talk of winter now
old dog by a crackling fire
shutters rattle pings!

photo of dear dad
he loved that fulsome willow
fallen leaves marker

Hi Dave. Thanks for the visit today, and the kind words. It has been a while since I've written anything. But, reading some of your works, particularly Haiikus like this, has triggered me to begin again!

came to tell you thanks for seeing one of my poems. Did you know that this series of haiku is listed as your BEST poetry as judged , I suppose, by members of Soup. I've always loved these too.

Thanks, Andrea. Not sure if these are good representatives of haiku. Evidently they communicated and this makes me happy. LOve, daver

DAver, I am so proud of you being published in a haiku journal. I have not had that honor! I think less than half of my haiku are true haiku. I think I can recognize them when I see them, but they are so very hard to write!!

These are really good, Daver. Some of them are true haiku too. A bit rare to find at Soup!! Love them.

What an amazing way to group haiku. It reads like free verse. Set such a tone. Like jazz you could feel the season. Brilliant. Got to fav it.
