Last Swallows Wing

And with the last swallows wing
Yellows, golds and browns bring
A quilt of bounty to the eye
Below a blue and cooling sky

The last dive across a still pool
Breathes the end of summers rule
Orange sunsets and misty dawns
Prepair for sleep nature warns

Yet still time to sit and gaze
Bathe the colours that amaze
Watch nature as she changes
Picks and preens, rearranges

Lawns moisten, Blackbirds listen
Cobwebs with dewdrops glisten
Little dies but most shall sleep
If to the spring a promise keep

Pull your blanket, pull it tight
Keep all warm on winters night
In winters rage a comfort bring
The gift of life with kiss of spring
