LAST PETAL

LAST PETAL

Summer has been long and tiring
All nature pushing on to the end
Now as Autumn walks slowly by
A few flowers still attempt to lie
Reputations of beauty to defend
But all know it’s time for retiring

It’s a similar end, for one and all
Each flower having had their day
There’s no escape, Winter’s near
Resigned to wait for another year
A sad time and so little left to say
Flowers fade and petals finally fall
