Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing
In my youth, strong and commanding,
I was proud to be the last man standing
They say pride goeth before a fall
But way back then, I had it all
All the good times, all the songs
You were the reason I sang along
All the road trips, all the fun
and start again when the day was done
I look back with no regret,
There is not a moment I will forget
Hand in hand through all our travels
Till daybreak comes and the dream unravels
You are my partner, you are my friend
And that part will never end
I carry you with me, your love is still here
And I am blessed to feel you near
And while I did what I could
To stay strong, and tough and good
still life became more demanding
Its hard to be the last man standing
So always, I hold your memory dear
But there are some who need me here
And so our memories will need to do,
Until the day I am back with you
