Last Glint From the Kindling

the fire ring made
just before dusk

with the two of us
in daze of yore

drank many more
frothened mugs

forgotten or
remembered

as embers
toward

midnight
made it's light

by the moon but
not on this new moon

night as haggard
staggering steps

took me before
the tents door

i unzipped
leaving forth

a piss to put
out the last

of the light
and on that

night's demise
for no fire

was left to light
the last if the

pheonix's
everlasting

life
