Last Christmas
Last Christmas,
As the gifts were given out,
The new year would be welcome,
A good year for all no doubt.
Last Christmas,
No one knew what would unfold,
Decisions to be made,
Press conferences to hold.
Last Christmas,
There was no Covid 19,
Football matches played,
And concerts on the music scene.
Last Christmas,
As the turkey was consumed,
None of us predicted,
What events ahead now loomed.
Last Christmas,
As we then ate our plum duff,
We had no inclination,
2020 would be tough.
Last Christmas,
As we drunk to a new year,
We didn’t have a clue,
That we’d all live in daily fear.
Last Christmas,
As we packed things all away,
Nobody had predicted,
What things would be like today!
